SCHEDULE:
Reporting time 9.45am for participants.
Race briefing 10am.
First race by 10.30am.
Bikes must be left in transition until all competitors in all age groups have
finished their races.
Finish time is likely around 1.30pm, but dependant on the number of entries.
PARKING
Parking will be situated near the transition area. It will be well signposted on the day.
SWIM There will be 2 courses:
Course #1 (light blue) 75m for 9 & 10 years.
Course #2 (dark blue) 100m for 11 & 12 years.
Note: The lake is a freshwater lake. The swim course will take children out of their depth but
there will be water support (Waimairi Surf Lifesaving club on boards) on hand. We strongly
recommend that students have a practice swim on the course prior to race day. If students cannot complete the distance easily in training they should not be competing in this event.
BIKE
Distances: 9‐10 year olds complete 2 laps (5km) 11‐12 year old complete 3 laps (7.5km)
Course Route: Out of transition you will be directed onto Pegasus Main Street. Turn rIght onto Barnes Street, turn right into Hodgkinson Road, turn right onto Winsole Street, turn left onto Pegasus Main Street, turn right onto Lakeside Drive, continue to turn point. Return on Lakeside Drive passing the main bridge. Turn left into Pegasus Main Street to pass by transition biking the appropriate number of laps.
At the end of the bike leg children will need to be careful as they run their bikes over the kerb. Please note on the bike course there are several ornamental speed humps (raised pavers) ‐ take extra care crossing these lines of pavers.
Each lap is 2.5km.
Note: We are using transponders this year (electronic timing). Children will need to count their numbers of laps so that they know when to head back into transition.
RUN All ages do the same run course, which is 2.5km.
